51 Years of Constituted Inertia and the Crescendo of Celebrations

51 Years of Constituted Inertia and the Crescendo of Celebrations Written on Saturday, October 1, 2011

Please stop praying for Nigeria because the prayer of Nigeria was answered when GOD blessed Nigeria with abundant Natural Resources. Nigeria is already blessed so prayer isn't the issue, the issue is obviously Nigerians. Nigerians are the greatest enemies of Nigeria.

Nigeria is great and I am proud to be Nigerian but how can a country blessed with oil not have sustainable refineries; how can such a country be importing petroleum products.
Its the similitude of a baker with flour but purchasing bread from another bakery with a functional oven.

How can a country blessed with Bitumen/Asphalt required for road tar not have sufficiently tarred roads.
How can a country blessed with Uranium have no nuclear power;
With sunshine but no solar energy;
With water but no hydro power for constant electricity.
A country with Iron Ore but no functional steel rolling mill.
A country blessed with untapped resources; Aluminium, Gas, Uranium, Palladium, Titanium, Bitumen, Aquamarine, Tantalite, Bauxite, Gold, Niobium, Tin, Coal, Lead, Zinc etc.

A country with arable land suitable for the cultivation of agricultural products; Palm oil, cocoa, cassava, rice, wheat, maize, groundnut, millet, yam etc, products potentially sufficient enough to feed an entire continent but not in abundance for national consumption and exportation.

Its in Nigeria you find the camaraderie of the educated illiterate, intellectually (albeit myopic), supporting the illegality of the rulers, because of a token.

Its in Nigeria some media firms and journalists are shying away from confronting the real issues and presenting facts to the public on the self aggrandizing atrocities of government, but choose to pay lip service, because of a token.

Its in Nigeria a mockery has been made of the judiciary and supposed esteemed men of law ridicule their positions of authority by dancing to the tunes of corrupt rulers, because of a token.

Its in Nigeria thieving government officials who should be stoned by concerned masses and arrested by law enforcers but are instead celebrated as heroes by a poverty ridden populace, because of a token.

All because of tokens futures have been mortgaged. Its the similitude of a thief coming to steal in your ancestral home and giving you out of the money he has stolen to placate you. Then following acceptance, celebrate.

Unfortunately, the opportunity for change came but we prayed for goodluck, the chance to ameliorate the sufferings we are encapsulated by appeared but prayed for patience.
Ironically, the president and supposed Commander-in-Chief of the most populous African nation on earth has apparently stated he is neither a lion/tiger or army general so we shouldn't expect anything spontaneously productive or drastically progressive.
With such a crass statement he has strategically exculpated himself from further accusations and cannot be blamed any longer for the ineptitude or non-performance of government.

GOD is just and will never come down to help us; heaven helps those who help themselves.
If we don't demand change and hold our rulers (not leaders)accountable, we will all be consumed by the dire consequences of a failed state.
Inevitably the coming generation will curse their forefathers for creating squalor and allowing mediocrity to manifest, thriving amidst hopelessly.
I fear for a day our offspring will confront us with the bitter question, what did you do ?
